A CONFESSIONAL FOR ARTISTS,
AND THE ULTIMATE ATTEMPT AT THEIR FAIR COMPENSATION.
A LETTER FROM DANIEL RIFATERRA, VIGILIA’S FOUNDER:
OPERATIONAL CONCEPT
Vigilia is a label and brand that launches artistic collections with its musical works to expand both the creative and economic impact. We don’t just release music; inspired by it, we create a graphic and handmade clothing collection that increases artists’ earnings and reaches all kinds of fans.
Who is the target audience for independent labels? Due to its characteristics, techno is not massively consumed on streaming platforms, and the only people who buy records are a small group of DJs. However, there are other potential consumers: the ones packing dancefloors and ready to support their favorite artists.
1.
How do techno producers make money from their music? Streams and digital sales don’t pay much (if anything), and the paid DJ market is more overcrowded than ever. But if we look at other genres, the sale of physical products is a major source of income for artists.
2.
Producers receive 50% of the profit margin ensuring that their countless hours in the studio finally get the financial recognition they deserve.
ARTISTIC CONCEPT
Vigilia is a place for sad, dark, and relentless beauty. A space where artists bring out their emo side and lean into their melancholic and somber instincts. It’s not just about creations; it’s about confessions—deep and gut-wrenching expressions.

Every step of the process is handled in-house, including the production of the physical items. All our products are hand-crafted in our workshop in deep rural Northern Spain, making every item a one-of-a-kind limited edition.
Each release is a concept in and of itself, with the music and artist’s approach serving as the original inspiration for the entire delivery.
ABOUT THE FOUNDER
I’m Daniel Rifaterra, a techno producer with releases on labels like ARTS, Truncate, Anaøh, Tronic or WATB and I’ve been in this industry for more than 10 years in different roles. I’m convinced we can fix some injustices in our scene by building an artist-centered and passion-driven space.
Professionally, I’m an industrial and product designer, as well as a creative director. Although I’ve worked in places like Barcelona, China, and Manchester, I live and run Vigilia from the small village where I was born, surrounded by nature. Here, I learned the value of creating things with my own hands—independently and sustainably—making each piece unique.
Thank you for your time.
